egr valve 2000 silhouette

I have a 2000 old silhouette. my engine light has been on for a while now i had it checked and they said i needed an egr valve, but i just had it replaced not even a year ago. coud it of gone bad already? and if so where is it located?

it is by the throttle body. the common issue is the passages clog up with debris. after removing the valve inspect the passages and make sure there is vacuum and exhaust at the valve.
