I have a 2000 Alero and have front wheel drive. My front left tire will rotate to go forward but as soon as I put the car in reverse the tire will rotate a little bit but than stops and drags with the car. It does not want to go backwards but goes forwards. Also when I press my breaks it starts making a crunching sound and when I do drive it is squeeking.

Check brakes and rotors. Make sure nothing is binding or locking up when you go in reverse. IF you hear a crunching sound when using the brakes, it doesn't sound too good.
