The problem is intermittent. Everything works in the dash for about the first ten minutes of the drive and then the odometer, tachometer and temperature gauges stop working.

Hey Ron,

It sounds like the plug in the rear of the cluster has a bad connection or the cluster is bad, can you remove the cluster and check the plug, remove it and reinstall, lets go from there. Let me know

Thanks for the suggestion. I re-seated the two (white and tan) connectors on the back of the cluster and the problem was the same. I checked ebay and found Denny that has a one day turnaround and he fixed the cluster for $99.00 He got my cluster on Thursday around at 9:00, fixed it and had it back in the priority mail by the end of day. I received it today and drove the car for over an hour which would have triggered the failure and the dash worked without a glitch. I also have more lights on the dash showing evidently because some of the bulbs were burnt. The burned out bulb replacement is included in the repair.

Just recently, my speedometer, temp guage, and Odometer stop working. Everyone now and then, one, the other, or all will begin functioning normally. I had a a bad corroding battery connection wich caused low power to my car at idle (dimming head lights, dimming instrument control lighting, etc). My battery/power issue has been resolved. I spoke with a mechanic and he mentioned it could be a short or the cluster may need to be replaced. He also mentioned that this is something only a dealership can service. Is this true? Is this my actual problem?

Tech is right it is the cluster and no dont go waste your money at the dealer they cant help with this problem. Sounds funny right. get online to a company Mr.Whizard technical service. Its in canada but they fixed mine for $199 shipping both ways. Its a bread board inside that goes out and is impossible to find one in the junk yard. I tried for six months.
