Checked the timing marks and engine still wont start?

Just changed the head on my 2000 mitsubishi mirage, 1.8l engine. I verified the timing and still cant get the engine to run. There is no distributor to rotate around to see if engine is retarded or advanced....what is my next step?

check the compression, check for spark and then check the fuel pressure. you need all 3 of these things for the motor to run.

did it run before this job and why did you replace the head??
