when i start my car it revs between 1500/2000 then just stops

the car revs up then just stops sometimes it will only do it once sometimes 6 or more times so i leave it for about an hour then it starts this doesnt happen everytime but the last couple of days its a daily occurance if you have any ideas i would appreciate your help i will get it to a garage asap thanks for your time Sharon

See if there are any codes stored by the computer. You should be able to find places that will do it for free. Check the throttle position sensor & Idle Air Control. It could be a problem with the cold start circuit, supplying too much fuel when starting cold. Rent/borrow a fuel pressure gauge from a parts store and see what sort of pressure is present at the regulator/test port.
