I have two problems that have started with my 2000 Mitsubishi Galant. I don't know if they are related or not, but I would like to get a general idea of what it could be and what to do about it. First the car's steering wheel has a squeak or squeal when it is turned. The sounds do not sound like they are coming from the engine, but the actual steering column. I don't know what to make of this, I have never had that problem before. Secondly, the front wheels, mainly the right front, makes a "clunk" noise when I drive the car. I have had broken struts before and they sound more like a bouncing thump rather than a grinding clunk. But I am at a loss. I am not a mechanic, so I don't know how to diagnose issues such a this. The noise sounds like metal, not like the tire, but I don't know. I feel like the wheel is not good. I didn't notice the noise to be louder at any point in time while driving, such as when I turn or pick up speed. It just has a consistent "clunk, clunk, clunk" as the wheel turns. I need to know how to address this situation. I want an honest opinion of what the possibilities are, so when I take it to the mechanic, I have multiple scenarios to run past him. I really appreciate your time. Thank you
