2000 mercury sable 3.0,the driver power window wont work when you use the switch a few times until after the car sits for awhile

That sounds like a bad window motor when the window is inop put your ear to the door where the speaker is with the engine off and the key in the run position.Then operate the window switch up and down can you hear the window motor clicking?If so you will then have to pull the inside door panel to make sure there is power and ground to the motor when its inop.

wiggle the window relay top right on fusebox while pushing the up button the window will go up not sure why I replaced the relay on mine and still have same problem
