what's the difference between a 1999 and a 2000 mercury sable sedan fuel tank? can i use a 99 on a 2000?

Have an error code for gas cap. replace it and still have code. sealed the fill/vent tube assy. found leak@ seam in tank. want to replace w/ good used tank but can only find 1999. can i use this and am i going about this in the right way?

you really need to have apro check your evap system to see if the solenoid is working or not. that is usually the code given even for a bad gas cap.
