2000 mecury sable--hit bad section of road. Heard pop. After I came to stop front end sagged left n heard tire shhh. I tried to back up a lil n the other side did same. Have read these seem to have problem with this. 104,000. Have found two complete replacments. Used in good shape. Is this a effective redo? Not much money here. And why wuld the other side collapse to?

Either the spring/strut collapsed, or a suspension component broke. I would look at front end very carefully to find cause.
I would think you would have to hit pretty hard to break something.

Did you break the subframe mounts? The big washers rust out and down it comes. And yeah, if the steering didnt bust then you can replace mounts and go. Or did you break the shock towers? They rust out too! Or what exactly did you break?

I looked underneath n from I can see-it appears the strut collapsed into it self? Sound reasonable. Looks rusted around that upper collar. Where it attaches inside hood area is fine. Also where attach to wheel. I have two replacements ready --man I hope this is all it is. I do thank u for ur help. Freedom is never Free. Remembering our service men n women.

Sounds like a fix to me! Not to bad a job either. As long as all the bolts come out easy! Have fun.
