My check engine light is on. When I accelerate pass 50mph it starts to blink. I went to Auto Zone to get it checked but it will not connect to diagnose the problem. Is there also a problem with the connection?

You most likely have a blown fuse to the connector check all your fuses especially the ones for your cig port's.
