2000 Mercury Mountaineer Battery Ran Out Try Charge Sets Off Alarm That T Get

My battery ran out and when I try and charge it, it sets off an alarm that I can't get to stop without removing the charge. How do I get this alarm to stop so that I can continue charging the battery??

dont you have a fob?? if not, turn the key on before installing the battery cables.
