I bought this car for my daughter and I noticed every time she comes home the cooling fan is running. It stops when she shuts the car off but comes back on when it is started again. I checked the temp gageand it is not showing hot. It is in the middle where it should be. Thanks for your help! Mike

If the air conditioning is left on it will do this. As a fan runs with the a/c. It may be a relay in the battery junction box or it could be a bad switch. If it's a 2.5l it's on the right rear of engine if it's a 2.0L it's on the left rear of engine.

NOT REAL KNOWLEDGEABLE ON THAT CAR

MANY NOWADAYS, THE FAN WILL COME ON IMMEDIATELY IF THE A/C OR DEFROST IS ON, SORTA A FAIL-SAFE. SEE IF THAT IS THE CASE ON YOURS

OTHER THAN THAT, THE MOST I CAN OFFER IS, SOMEONE MAY HAVE IT WIRED DIRECTLY TO THE IGN SWITCH, OR A "HOT" LINE FROM THE "ON POSITION" OF THE SWITCH. MOST OF THE TIME PEOPLE DO THIS WHEN THEY ARE UNABLE TO FIND A BLOWN FUSE/ INOPERABLE RELAY TO THE FAN(S). SORTA A QUICK, "GET BY" FIX, BUT THE FAN NEVER CYCLES OFF, WHEN IT IS NOT NEEDED. ONLY IF THE KEY IS OFF.

OTHERS MAY JUMP IN WITH INFO, IF YOU ARE DISSATISFIED WITH MY ANSWER.I WILL FIND YOU ANOTHER EXPERT. MY "THING" IS JEEPS AND OLD FORDS

LET US KNOW YOUR FINDINGS

Thanks for the quick response! It does cycle on and off but is not off for very long. This may just be the way it is, I did notice she had the ac on today. I'll have to check it with the air off. Thanks again for your response!

When it is on, check the engine temp to see if it should be on.
