my car will shift into drive but when I accelerate it does not move

My girlfriend was coming home from grocery shopping and started drive and hit the gas and it would not shift into drive until the car had hit higher RPMs.can anyone help me out with my problem please let me know thank you

Check the transmission fluid level and condition if okay bring her in and have the transmission further checked out-sounds like its slipping for me-
