transmission not engaging?

I can start my car and put it in drive and it will start going backwards.
as i put on the gas it don't move right away . when started for some time it don't do this.

check to make your trans is full of lud and your cable isn't broken, it may be and not moving the trans to the right gear.

How's the transmission fluid level and condition if okay-seems to me its slipping bring her in and have it further checked out-
