Car Hesitates on Acceleration

Sometimes when I push the pedal the car will stay at 2RPM (gives no response) until I push the gas pedal to the floor at which point the RPM flies to 4 or 5. Taking my foot off the gas and trying again usually solves the problems. This happens constantly. Thanks in advance.

First thing to do is go get a scan done, this will show up any unresolved fault coses, not all codes will set a check light, let me know if you have any codes start here.

If the check engine light is on, have the computer scanned for trouble codes. If it isn't on, have the throttle position sensor checked.
