My son blew the head gasket on his 2000 Mazda ES-626. We have owned the car since it was new and have taken great care of it. It is in excellent condition - outside of the engine issue.

Is it worth the cost and effort to replace the head gasket...or should we consider replacing the entire engine with either a rebuild or low-mileage one?
