Need advice on cluster display showing E

When driving on the highway my car feels and sounds like it is in 3rd gear. The cluster display says E and not D which it usually shows. The rpms also are showing 4.5 when I am going 55 or 60 on the highway.

you need a shop to use a scan tool to check the ipc to see if there is a failure. they also need to see if there is a failure in the trans controls which is what i think you have. it is in limp mode right now.
