the drivers side rear end collapsed, what could have caused it? could it be the strut or the axle ? or the bush? please help

Can't really see it from here. Have the car inspected at a tire and alignment shop. The mechanics at any independent repair shop can also look at it. The common causes are a broken coil spring or the spring mounting plate on the strut has rusted off.

Worn bushings will cause noises and possibly erratic handling but won't cause the suspension height to change very much.
