will new o2 sensor help my engine run better

Hi will a o2 sensor smooth out a rough running engine- haven't had a working one in for about 2 months-had to replace the front Cat./front pipe and that took about 2 months time to order and install. Now I'm ready to install the final o2 sensor in the front replaced front pipe and Cat

It can sometimes, but usually it will have more of an affect on fuel mileage.
