What is the most you can cut legally off of a muffler.

At a bare minimum you must have the catalytic converters and the oxygen sensors behind them. For safety there has to be a tail pipe past the rear bumper to keep fumes from getting drawn into the trunk and eventually into the passenger compartment.

AS FAR AS "RACKET"---LOCALS ARE IN CHARGE OF THE ACCEPTABLE DECIBEL LIMITS.....EVERY TOWN IS DIFFERENT!

'ROUND HERE, IF YOUR RADIO CAN BE HEARD MORE THAN 40 FEET FROM YOUR VEHICLE, THEY CAN, AND HAVE IMPOSED A $1100 FINE...I LIKE THAT LAW!!!!
