I really want to get a Jaguar XJ8 years 1997-2001. I keep hearing incredibly good reviews or completely terrible reviews of this car's reliability. I know that the problems with these are the timing chains/adjusters and adjusters are plastic but simply upgrading them to the aluminum ones will fix the problem of its engine failing after the timing chain/adjusters break. so my questions to your are; Are these model jaguars reliable? and if I were to buy one from a dealership which has been fully serviced but has 200,000 miles on it, would it last at all?

those cars aren't seen by mechanics in shops very much. but if take n care of most will last but with that many miles you have to expect problems are going to crop up much sooner than later.
