How can I tell if my VVT is in the advance position? My car has made a clicking sound when I press the accelerator. If I disconnect the passenger side vvt solenoid the clicking sound goes away when I press the accelerator. Could the vvt being stuck in the advance position be the issue? Is that what you see in the pictures?

if you scan the car for codes it would show up if bad. those are operated electrically and hydraulically the actuator in solenoid could be sticking and is why you are hearing the click. if your check engine light isn't on and you can put up with the click let it go til it sets a code. then fix it.

Yes, I am getting code P1384. I changed the vvt solenoid because I was told by the mechanic that they were the issue. Now he is saying that it could be the attachment that the vvt solenoids go into.

Here is a video of the sound it was making. Forward to 1.29.

Thanks.

He says that it's the attachment that connects to the VVT actuator.

see pic for faults, but look ing at causes and if solenoid has been replaced I'd lean to a hydraulic problem, either where the solenoid sits and not getting enough oil or something broken. see pics

Ok, Thank you. Could I drive it in the condition? I am sorry for asking so many questions, I just had my car repaired and still having issues. Thank you again.

with the noise it makes it is moving the cam back and forth so I would not drive it with working. I'm sending a pic of what I think the solenoid goes into. the one on your car may be plugged and needs to be unplugged maybe or it's worn out from solenoid. until it can be looked at I can't give a definitive answer.
