Can you change the outer boot with out taking the shaft out of the differential out I am having trouble I have herd lots storeys about different ways of doing this job but you cant beleave every thing so I thought I would try talking to the experts

Sure could use a few details. Front or rear? What do you mean by "I am having trouble"? Kindly take the time to use some punctuation, otherwise what you write can be read three or four different ways. Do you have the service manual, or did you get a sheet of instructions with the new boot? There are a number of different ways the outer joint can be held to the shaft. Hopefully the instruction sheet will say which one you have.
