power steering pulley stops turning wheel and its squeals really bad so we took the belt off until we could get a new rack of pinions but now my other belt, the one to the water pump and alternator came off, is it connected to the power steering problem in any way? i dont know what to do now, not even sure if its the rack of pinions or even how to check

if belt is worn or too loose this can cause pump to freeze and belt squeal when wheel is turned.if you have belt off, try turning pump by hand with engine off. with engine on belt on if froze and squealing when not turning wheel then something else is wrong.
