the electric fan is coming on even though the car is not hot the mechanic tells me that the heat sensor is ok and also we are not using the a/c

what was the techs recommendation??
it could be a thermostat that could be causing it too.

If you are using defrost, that usually engages the compressor also. Some even do it with floor heat.
