2000 Hyundai Coupe Engine revs

When I drive over 30mph the engine starts to rev and loses power it goes into gear ok just want to know what is wrong and is it a serious and costly problem...just bought the car and it does need a full service

If you experience a loss of power, I would start by checking the fuel pump pressure to make sure it is within the manufacturer's specs. If the check engine light is on, have the computer scanned to identify codes. Most parts stores will do it for free.
