check engine like on,,sticker rejection, code says lean fuel,plus...problem,,,,primary oxygen sensor.

i replaced it,,disconnected battery to clear code..
drove car for 40 miles and check engine came on again.
WHAT TO DO NEXT? CODE AGAIN SAYS OXYGEN SENSOR.
(COULD THE NEW REPLACED O SENSOR BE BAD????
