oil filter removal

I can't get the oil filter off my Honda Odyssey van. Which way to I turn it?

Facing the end of the filter, it turns counterclockwise. It could be real tight if it's been on there for a while.

My experience with removing oil filters is that they are not as tight when the engine is cold compared to hot. Also, when installing a new one make sure you put plenty of oil on the o-ring and install it hand tight (do not use oil filter wrench).

The longer they stay on the car, the tighter they get so never over tighten them.
