i have a honda civic manual that is stuck in third gear. it got stuck when i went to shift into neutral.

Had the same problem with a 79 Mustang. There is a rod and shift yoke that have most likely been bent. You'll need to pull the transmission and replace those parts. I would recommend a Chiltons or Haynes manual for your vehicle.
