i have just done a dumb thing, i put the battery terminals on wrong, now it wont crank over and the check transmission light flashes, what do i need to do to fix this.

For sure you'll have a bunch of blown fuses. Check under the hood and inside. One in particular under the hood is likely to be a very large one that's bolted in. That protects the generator when this happens. Don't go looking for other problems just yet. If you're lucky, blown fuses are all that's wrong.
