2000 GMC Sierra cd player not working

My CD player in my truck does not work. Everything else in it works but it will take in a CD keep it for a few seconds then spit it back out and say ERR. It sounds like it spins the disk but it wont read them they are original copies is there any tricks to fix the CD player or should I just get a new one?

From the mid to late '90s GM cd players have a 100 percent failure rate for the laser assemblies. To add to the insult, GM decided to stop allowing us to buy radio service manuals after the '94 model year so they could lock up all the lucrative repair business for their two grossly overpriced repair centers. They don't repair anything like independent shops do. They simply install another cd mechanism at a much higher cost that will develop the same problem in a few years. Luckily for you, you can install a high-quality aftermarket radio. To prevent you from doing that and to force you to spend well over $400.00 to repair the radio, they started to build the Body Computer into the radio starting with some 2002 models. The radio can not be removed. Replacement radios have to be programmed to the truck. That has to be done by the dealer, and not surprisingly, they don't do that for free.
