Smelling gas

I can smell gas on the driver's side when I get in and out of the car, before and after driving.

Check the Evaporative emission control system-start at the charcoal canister could be saturated with fuel

You will have to inspect it from below with the engine running. I suspect you have a rusted out fuel line that only leaks under pressure and it will evaporate quickly.
