I own a 2000 Ford Windstar. While driving, the van gave a jump, the rpm's surged and the overdrive light started flashing. I pulled over and checked the owner's manual. It said if the o/d light is flashing while the vehicle is running there is a serious problem Driving 60 on the highway. Van bucked. Motor and rpm's surged and stayed up. I stopped. Checked manual. Said serious transaxle electrical system problem. What is the cause, is it major, what is involved in the repair and is there an estimated cost? Thank you in advance for any assistance you can provide.
