when driving at night the headlights started pulsating to radio, gradually going out completely. this was followed by the radio and dash lights going out and engine surging. in less than a minute, everything came back on. the next time I tried to start it the battery was almost dead and blower motor relay was clicking rapidly . any ideas?

Generator is quitting and the battery is running down to keep the engine running. Measure the battery voltage while the problem is occurring and the engine is running. It should be between 13.75 and 14.75 volts.
