will cheap ebay obd2 usb vw adapters work on fords?

The cheapeast OBD2 to USB cables on ebay and other websites specifically only mention VW and Audi in their titles and descriptions. Do these cables only work with VWs/Audis or will they also work with other OBD2 cars such as Fords? Here's an ebay example.

the one you see for VW/Audi will not be compliant with some other vehicle's you need to buy

If they only specify VW / Audi... that is most likely all they will work on. I would contact the seller. Also, you can get inexpensive scanners at most nationally recognized parts stores that will work on your vehicle.
