When the engine has run for awile (gets hot) and I shut it off, it won't start again. There is no noise from the starter at all when this happens. When the car sits for a day, it starts right up. Is this the starter, the solenoid or some other problem?

It sounds like the starter. DON'T laugh... When this happens, tap on the starter with a wrench or something similar being careful not to short the wiring and see if it starts.
