air conditioner works great but heater will not get even warm.

Check the thermostat, heater core and the air blend door/actuator if its stuck in the cold position

possible causes

low coolant level. heater core clogged, you can tell by feeling the hoses. one would be hot and one would be cold.

blend door motor failure. this is the most common failure.
