Loosing power and some squeaky noise coming from under hood

Vehicle from one minute to next started to loose power and some squeaky noise coming from under hood. Two small hoses were hanging off of their place that they connect to by EGR valve. What causes the hoses to pop off?

Yes I have seen this problem before, you have a plugged catalytic converter. Here is a guide that will help you change it
