My car has just recently started to lunge or surge will stopped. If you don't have your foot on brake good I'm afraid of hitting someone in the rear. What could be the problem? If it surges or lunges driving down the road I can't tell you. It's a convertible, so it's hard for me to hear a noise.

has the air filter been changed yet? Also is the check engine light on or blinking? Surging can be caused by a vacuum leak, bad idle air control, bad throttle body, or bad mass air flow sensor.
