Does it just turn real hard as in no power assist, or does something physically lock up? If it turns left just as hard when the engine is not running, suspect a bent or broken control valve lever inside the steering gear box. Rack and pinion steering gears do this when there is internal leakage around the worn seals on the spool valve.
