Can the odometer be repaired

the odometer goes on and off.. sometimes i can bump dash and it will come on, and sometime not... but ususally comes on everytime I crank up.. read where soider in cluster board might have bad connect... can this being done??? If so. How do I take it out step by step... and not break something.. I have worked on my autos, so I have an understanding of mechanics..

Make sure the wiring connector is firmly seated in the instrument panel connector.

INSTRUMENT CLUSTER
CAUTION: Instrument cluster is a Hybrid Electronic Cluster (HEC). Passive antitheft
ignition key code is programmed into HEC. Car will not start
without proper code. If replacing instrument cluster, it is necessary to
upload HEC module configuration to NGS tester, or equivalent scan
tool. Download configuration once new instrument cluster is installed.
Removal & Installation
Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove headlight switch. See HEADLIGHT SWITCH .
Carefully release 4 retaining clips and remove steering column opening cover.

Remove 7 instrument panel finish panel bolts. Remove instrument panel finish panel. Remove 4
instrument cluster bolts. Disconnect electrical connectors. Remove instrument cluster. If
equipped, remove transmission range indicator. To install, reverse removal procedure.
