The car also sporadically does not illuminate the odometer

My 2000 Ford Expedition has not wanted to start while the headlights are set to auto. It will turn over, but not start. The fix had been to turn the switch to the off position until today, when it would not start at all. Any suggestions?

this could be an alarm system prob when it does this try and reset the alarm with the fob.
