Horrible rattling noise from inside a plastic casing above which I assume is the cam belt and it seems to I think be attatched to the engine, it doesnt start straight away all the time it can happen as you are driving along but then it is continuous, it sounds like something is turning reall fast and someone has just thrown a bolt it there if that makes sense and its banging around in side really fast and very loud, any ideas please?

First, I need to know for sure where the noise is coming from. Based on your description, it sounds like you are describing the valve cover. If that is the case, you could have a lifter issue, or something could be broken. You would need to remove the valve cover to check.

Hi thankyou for getting back to me I have been told and if im ohnest not by a reliable source it may be the crank shaft, im not convinced myself but is this a possibility? I will remove the plastic casing as you suggest its only 2 bolts from what I can see and plastic clips, its like I said, above the cam belt not far right from the water bottle.
