2000 Ford Escort Gear shifter

I got mad and shoved my gear shift up and now it isn't staying in gear. I think I may have bent a piece that locks it into shift. Could you please post a picture of what a gear shifter should look like for an 2000 ford escort zx2 coupe automatic. Thanks

Pull the cover off the trans and look to see if your cable is like this one in pic if it is you need anew cable which is sold with both cables. Then you'll need to adjust it. You will however need special tool to lock the shifter into place if you have to replace the cables. We don't 'have pics of the shifter but I doubt you bent it.
