everytime I break the tail lights go out

the tail lights on my escort van go out everytime i press the break pedal. i've changed the bulbs in the tail light but this hasnt worked.

Do the brake lights come on?
I have attached the wiring schematic for the 2000 Ford Escort. My resource doesn't list a van, so I hope they're the same.
Has anyone made any changes to the vehicle's wiring?
