SORTA GOT 3 OPTIONS

DEALER

LOCKSMITH

FIND KEY

HAVING YOUR VEHICLE IDENTIFICATION NUMBER (VIN) FOR THE 1ST 2 WOULD PROBABLY HELP YOU. CALL THEM TO SEE IF ANYTHING ELSE IS NEEDED.

MY WIFE IS SOMETIMES SOMETIMES SCATTERBRAINED (I DID SAY SOMETIMES!).

THE EXPENSIVE KEY FOR HER FORD ESCAPE, IS THE IGNITION SWITCH KEY (ALSO WILL OPEN THE DOORS) THIS KEY HAS A "CHIP" WITHIN IT, AND IT WILL NOT CRANK UP, WITH OUT IT.

HOWEVER THE DOORS WILL OPEN WITH A "PLAIN JANE KEY" WITH NO CHIP (SO CALLED SAME KEY, BUT INEXPENSIVE).

IF YOUR KEYS ARE LOCKED INSIDE YOUR VEHICLE, THE LOCKSMITH CAN GET YOU IN. WAH-LAH! YOU HAVE YOUR KEYS BACK!

IF NOT, YOU NEED NEW KEYS!

WHAT I DID TO PREVENT YOUR SITUATION FROM HAPPENING TO MY WIFE IS:

SHE'S GOT HER, EVERYDAY KEY, WITH THE CHIP, ON HER KEY-RING.

I HAVE THE SAME KEY DUPLICATE WITH ME.I'M NOT ALWAYS THERE!

I HAD 3 MORE MADE.1 IS A "CHIP KEY", ONE YOU CAN CRANK UP AND GO WITH! IT IS HIDDEN IN THE INTERIOR OF HER CAR. 2 OTHERS ARE THE "PLAIN JANE" TYPE.

I HAVE A "PLAIN JANE KEY" WIRED UNDER HER VEHICLE WITH COPPER WIRE (AS NOT TO RUST AWAY AND THE KEY GET LOST) IT IS HIDDEN WELL, AND SHE CAN GET IT, WITHOUT THE USE OF TOOLS (IF SHE WILL ACTUALLY CRAWL UNDER THERE!). THIS KEY WILL ONLY OPEN THE DOORS, CANNOT DRIVE WITH IT.

HOWEVER, SHE IS ABLE TO GET IN, AND RETRIEVE THE SPARE "CHIP KEY", IF NECESSARY.I DID NOT KNOW IF THE "CHIP KEY" COULD STAND UP TO THE ELEMENTS, THATS WHY IT'S HIDDEN INSIDE, PLUS IF FOUND THE "PLAIN JANE" ONE WAS FOUND BY THE ENEMY, THEY COULD NOT STEAL HER RIG.

ALSO, NO MATTER WHERE HER CAR IS, SOME DETAILED, HIDING PLACE INSTRUCTIONS TO A "THIRD" PARTY, AS TO BOTH SPARE KEY LOCATIONS, WOULD ALLOW IT TO BE DRIVEN BY FAMILY OR FRIENDS IN AN EMERGENCY!

THE FINAL "PLAIN JANE KEY" IS AT OUR HOUSE, JUST IN CASE NEEDED.

SHE KNOWS THAT'S WHY SHE MARRIED ME, SHE COULD HAVE NEVER MADE IT THRU LIFE SUCCESSFULLY, WITHOUT CUNNING AIRBORNE RANGER SURVIVAL SKILLS CLOSE-BY!

LET ME KNOW HOW THINGS TURN OUT, I ANSWER TO TRY TO HELP, NOT CAUSE I I LIKE HUNTIN' AND PECKIN' AIMLESSLY. THIS IS MY HOBBY, I DO LIKE TO HEAR "THE REST OF THE STORY"!

GOOD LUCK!

THE MEDIC

To answer your question more directly, you are going to have to get the doors open somehow first. Once that is done, the easiest thing to do would be to remove the door lock and bring it to a qualified locksmith that also has the electronic equipment to program a new key. They can cut the physical key from the door lock but then it will have to be electronically programmed to the vehicle. The whole process may be easier to just tow the vehicle to the dealer as they can cut a key from the VIN and then program it.
