2000 Ford Contour Airflow remains at defroster only

Can change fan speed and change heater selection knobs, but the air only goes to the defroster.

Check for a broken or disconnected vacuum hose under the hood. Most systems are spring-loaded to default to the defrost position for safety when that hose is disconnected. Your feet might freeze, but the windshield will be clear.
