uneven idelling

I've overhauled the entire engine & the car was running smoothly before that but after the engine overhaul it has uneven idelling & when the headlights is turned on whilst the car is running they go brighter & dimmer, also when the radiotor fan kicks in & is running the engine runs even & smooth, it has no problem when it's driving but only when running/idelling? What can be the cause?
