Purchased a new gear shift linkage for the transfer case on my 2000 Ram 1500 Sport and wondering what the best way is to adjust the linkage to allow me to properly shift the transfer case. When I purchased the truck the linkage was missing so I have no reference to go off of to try and get it to the factory adjustment. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Move shift lever to 2H position. Raise and support vehicle. Loosen shift rod lock bolt at trunnion on linkage. Ensure shift rod does not bind in linkage trunnion. Re-check to ensure transfer case shift lever is in 2H position (second position from full-forward position).
Align adjustment hole on lower shift lever with adjustment channel on shifter bracket assembly. See Fig. 2. Insert a locking pin through adjusting channel and locating hole to hold shifter in position. Tighten shift rod lock bolt to 90 INCH lbs. (10 N.M). Remove locking pin. Check shift linkage operation in all ranges. Readjust as necessary.

you can use a drill or a piece of steel same size instead of locking pin. See pic
