Have a 2000 dodge half ton truck with a 3.9 v6 sometimes it acts like it has a dead battery and will not start and other times starts and runs fine? Checked battery and alternator both fine thinking it may be the starter but not sure because it to works fine sometimes

What are the symptoms when it doesn't start? Do any lights work? Do you hear one single kind of loud clunk each time you turn the ignition switch to "crank"?
